Sizes
Arcametti works come in three sizes based solely on perching branch diameters:
ALFA – for small and medium birds
ZETA – for medium and large birds
ZETA GX - for extraordinarily large birds
Maintenance and Care
All Arcametti tree stand perches consist of two main sections: the base and the tree. The trees themselves mostly come in two pieces: the trunk and the branches (occasionally they come in one piece).
The tree needs to be mounted to the base on site. We recommend that at least two people are involved in the un-boxing and mounting processes. A rubber mallet and an adjustable wrench or tongue and groove plier is required.
Mounting the tree trunk to the base:
Please note that all tree trunks have one large metal bolt at the end (although particularly heavy or leaning trees may have two bolts).
1 - Carefully position the tree trunk above the hole(s) in the base and then slide the metal bolt(s) at the end of the trunk through the hole(s). The tip of the bolt will now be protruding slightly from the underside of the base.
2 - While holding the tree firmly in place, attach the nut(s) to the protruding bolt(s) on the underside of the base and tighten firmly enough to stabilize the trunk so that it does not wobble when standing upright.
3 - Check to ensure that the trunk is positioned on the base as shown in the website photos. If it is not then carefully rotate the tree on the base until it does. After the proper positioning is achieved you can tighten the underside bolt firmly to completion.
Attaching the branch section to the trunk:
Please note that most trees come in two sections (the trunk and the branches) which should be attached together after the trunk has been mounted to the base as described above.
For that purpose, the trunk and the branch sections have corresponding stainless steel rods and pipes inserted at their ends. These provide for accurate, smooth joining and tight, sturdy fits.
1 - Carefully position the branch section above the trunk so that the steel rods are lined up with their corresponding steel pipes. Proper positioning can be confirmed by comparing the shape of the wood at the connecting end of the branch section with the shape of the wood at its corresponding branch end.
2 - When the proper position has been ascertained the base and trunk section must be held together firmly, steadily, and motionless as the branch section is gently lowered onto the trunk and the steel rods inserted into their pipes. Only the branch section should be moved/adjusted once lowered onto the trunk.
3 - Carefully and slowly slide the rods further down into their pipes until a tight fit and smooth join is achieved. If necessary, you may use a rubber mallet to help drive the rods deeper into their pipes.
Note: For those whose tree trunks attach to the base with one bolt:
If, after a few sessions on the perch, you find that your bird takes a liking to a particular branch (or part thereof) that overhangs the base you can resolve this by adjusting the tree’s position. This is done by loosening the nut under the base and then carefully rotating the tree until that particular branch is within the perimeter of the base below. You can then re-tighten the nut fully.
Arcametti tree stand perches are designed to facilitate ease of maintenance. We recommend regular light dusting and wiping as well as post-usage cleaning of soiled spots and droppings.
Tree Maintenance (applies to trunk and branches):
Soiled branches and trunks may be cleaned using a soft, clean cloth or sponge moistened with warm water. Particularly stubborn or caked on residue may be removed by gently scraping with a piece of thin plastic before moist-wiping.
For the most difficult to remove stains and/or clumping, a small section of 60-240 grit sandpaper may be used to lightly sand the specific area. Special caution must be used with this method to avoid marring the wood so the finer grits should be tried first before moving on to the coarser ones.
Over time, the natural oil from parrots’ feathers will make some of the branches slightly slippery, especially the areas where the bird spends the most time. Sanding those spots with a piece of 40-60 grit sandpaper should remove the oils and create thread marks for improved gripping.
Base Maintenance:
All Arcametti bases are hardwood; made from a single slice of tree trunk. As with most finely finished wood furniture, their surfaces are protected with a polyurethane matte or gloss finish. Your base is also a unique work of art so please treat it accordingly.
To remove fresh soiling and/or caked droppings from the surface of the base you may use a clean piece of cloth or sponge that has been moistened with warm water.
Particularly stubborn or caked on residue may be removed by very gently and carefully prying the residue off with a piece of thin plastic (or fine finish safe utensil) before moist-wiping. Take your time with this process and in no event should you scrape, sand, or otherwise abrade the base surface. Nor should you apply any solvents or chemicals to it.
In the event you wish to renew or repair the finish in certain areas or even entirely please contact us beforehand for advice specific to your base.
Arcametti bases include edged concave areas designed to hold substrates should you wish to use them when your bird(s) are on the tree. This feature is optional and solely a matter of preference.
Possible substrates may include (but are not limited to) paper or plastic sheets shaped, cut, and fitted for your particular base, shredded paper, untreated absorbent pellets, etc. Do not use any abrasive particles, substances, or materials as a substrate that may scuff, scratch, or otherwise mar your bases finish.
The substrate may be removed when your bird is not on the perch so that your Arcametti can function solely as the work of art/interior design element that it is. We suggest placement in an appropriate area where it can be viewed and appreciated by all.
Substrate should be cleaned or replaced regularly to keep it fresh and hygienic.
